Microsoft Word 2007 allows you to insert numbered pages to a document. You can insert the page number at the top or bottom of the page.
To insert the number, you must switch the Document view to Print Layout. After that, you should click on the Insert tab and select Numbers. From the Page Numbers drop down menu, you can choose from the positions of the number including top, bottom, margin and current position. The top of page template contain numbered templates with the page number showed at different positions on top. The bottom of page template contains numbered templates with the number displayed in different positions at the bottom.
The margins template contains numbered templates with the page displayed in the margin of the page. If you want the number to be inserted in the current insertion point, you can choose from the current position numbered template. When you point your cursor at a selection, you will see a preview of the numbered template. To select a numbered template, you simply click on it.
If you want to insert a document number for every single page in the document, you should select all the pages and click on the page number button the Insert tab. After selecting the page number button, you can choose a page number template.
If you want to make changes to the page outline, you should click the header or footer two times. If the page number is located on top, you should click on the header two times. If the number is located at the bottom, you should click on the footer two times. When clicking on the header or footer, make sure you click at fast speed so that it will transform into an editable regions. You can add words to the right or left side of the header.
