17 Black Hat SEO Techniques That SEO Masters Generally Use
Getting on number one position on Google is like a dream which comes true for some SEO expert who know how to implement SEO techniques.
There are hundreds of SEO techniques that can give a boost to the website's ranking. We call these techniques as White Hat SEO Techniques. These techniques are one of the popularly used SEO techniques to double traffic and maximize revenue.
But as you know, it is still difficult to crack Google's first page when there is so much competition out there. Even if you are using proper White Hat SEO techniques, it does not guarantee you that your site will definitely appear on Google's first page.
Hence, some SEO experts prefer to use SEO techniques, which can get them the first position on search engines at no time. We call these techniques as Black Hat SEO techniques, or in other words, these techniques are considered as spam.
It is true that in some cases, Black Hat SEO techniques have helped to crack Google's first page in the short run. But in the long run, this technique is considered spam, and using such technique will tank your site down.
Google never tolerates such types of hacks to double traffic and get the number one position. Hence, it instantly penalizes such type of sites.
Still, there are some SEO masters who use these Black Hat SEO techniques at present.
Can you guess those Black Hat SEO techniques?
No!
That's what we are going to find in this article.
Let's dive right into those 17 Black Hat SEO techniques.
17 Black Hat SEO techniques
1. Keyword Stuffing or Keyword Stacking
Keyword Stacking or Keyword Stuffing is a technique of stuffing keywords in an article or a text repeatedly. This is the oldest used technique that was widely popular before the 2000s. Keyword stuffing has helped lots of people to crack Google's first page using this technique.
But after the 2000s, when Google started to notice that people are over-optimizing their content with keywords, which was ultimately damaging the readability of the content, Google started considering this practice as spam.
Even though this is a bad practice, the technique is still in use at present.
2. Irrelevant Keywords
Another type of keywords hacking is using irrelevant keywords in your content. For example, The SEO Expert in India consume a healthy and balanced diet.”
As you can see, there is no relation between SEO and a balanced diet. But still, you are using it to increase your visibility in both the fields - SEO and Health.
This is how people use irrelevant keywords in their content as a Black Hat SEO technique.
3. Plagiarised Content
Plagiarised Content or Scraped Content is a type of content that is copied from another source or article and presented as a unique one with minor changes.
In the beginning, people used this technique to rank higher in the search engines. They just copied content from great articles and pasted it on their site with some minor changes. In some cases, copied content ranked better than the original one, which became a serious problem for the original writers.
That's why Google never tolerates plagiarised content and always focuses on unique content.
4. Article Spinning
Article spinning is not much different from plagiarized content. There are some tools available on the internet in which if you enter a copied content, it will generate you a new content with changed phrases and grammatical styles thus presenting itself as a fresh and unique content in front of the search engines.
Hence, it is better to update the article with new information if someone has already written on a similar topic.
5. Cloaking
Cloaking is a technique of presenting one content for the search engine bots to crawl and the other one for the users to visit. For example, say you searched for What is Schema Markup in SEO. When you clicked on the URL expecting your answer, you are presented with an article on cats and dogs.
Hence, using this technique violates Google's guidelines and puts you at a serious risk of getting penalized.
6. Click baits
Clickbait is a commonly practiced technique of misinterpreting the public.
For example, say you were searching for some celebrity, and suddenly you saw an article with a headline Celebrity Name was found dead in his house.” Seeing the headline, you panicked and clicked on the article to know more about it. But when you found that the article was about his new movie, it enrages you.
This is what clickbait means: Misleading the public by providing wrongly written headlines.
7. Comment Spamming
Comment spamming is used to generate links for their site. In some cases, you may have seen people promoting their links in comments, which is completely irrelevant to the content or regularly commenting on something which is not related to your niche.
This type of practice is called comment spamming.
8. Hidden Texts and Links
Hidden texts are the texts which are barely visible either due to small font size or changing color to the color of the background. This technique is used to hide keywords and links that site owners don't want to show to their visitors. But Google can see those texts and links and can penalize them for being spammy.
9. Link Farms
A link farm is a technique of using the maximum number of inbound links to gain ranking. In other words, it is a method of linking your webpage to the other webpage of your site. When the number of links increases, it is considered as link farms.
10. Social Networking Spam
Social Networking spam is a technique of sending or posting site or post links regularly in comments which is not related to your niche, or anywhere.
11. Keyword Stuffing in Alt description
Just like keyword stuffing in content, over-optimizing your image's alt description with keywords is also a bad practice to rank your site.
12. Using multiple H1s in a content
H1, H2, H3, etc. are the subheadings in your content. You can use H2, H3, etc. as much as you want, but it is not advised to use H1 tags more than once in a content.
H1 is considered as the title of the blog or article, and if you are using multiple H1 tags, it means that you are article has more than one title, which can confuse search engine bots.
Also, if you are also over-optimizing your subheadings with keywords is a bad practice.
13. Content Automation
Automatically generating content for your site to update it with regular content may sound good, but it is not a good practice in the long run. The automatically generated content is deprived of keywords, images, and is not meant for users.
The only aim is to add regular content to the site without any effort from your side.
14. Buying Links
It is one of the easiest ways to get backlinks for your site to rank higher in Google. There are several sites out there from where you can buy backlinks expecting them to be of high quality.
That's not the case…
These links are of low quality, and hence Google will penalize your site if it found you generating backlinks through spam.
15. Gateway Pages
This technique is similar to cloaking in which a user is redirected to another webpage, which is irrelevant to the topic you searched. Of course, these techniques have been used by SEO masters, and it has helped them to rank higher in Google or other search engines.
16. Negative SEO
Negative SEO is a way of penalizing your competitors by reporting them to Google, which ultimately lowers the ranking of their site.
These people are unable to rank their website in search engines, so they report their competitor's site to Google to lower their rankings.
17. Trackback Spam
Trackback is a method of getting traffic by sending unnecessary pings to their visitors who are connected to them. If you are sending pings about your latest posts, then it is considered normal, but if you are sending pings regularly to get traffic, then it is considered as spam.
